Many people explore faith for the first time while in prison. Through chapel services, Bible studies and Christian courses, they encounter the hope of the gospel and begin to ask questions about Jesus.
But release from prison can be one of the most challenging moments in that journey. The support, routine and relationships built inside prison can disappear overnight, leaving people vulnerable to isolation and old patterns of life.
At London City Mission, we believe the church should not begin or end at the prison gate.
Our Prisons & Resettlement team walks alongside men both while they are in prison and after they are released. Working with prison chaplaincies, churches and ministry partners across London, we help people encounter Jesus, grow as disciples and become part of a Christian community that can support them for the long term.
By building connections before release and continuing them afterwards, we help bridge the gap between prison and church, so that people can find a place to belong, grow and serve.
