Sister Tabitha

Missionary in Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge

"I want everyone to have the opportunity to hear the Good News"

Sister Tabitha surrendered her life to Jesus after a long period of depression and loss. “Jesus called me by name and transformed my mourning into dancing and my deep sadness into joy,” says Tabitha.

While studying in Tunisia, Sister Tabitha experienced her heart being filled with an overwhelming love for those around her, which led her to begin praying for people she encountered on the streets. It was during this time that she sensed God's call to mission.

Sister Tabitha first came to London to volunteer with a church in an area with a large Muslim population. Through this work, she became familiar with London City Mission's ministry among Muslim communities. She served at LCM from 2020 to 2022 and then spent two years in Egypt, sharing the gospel with people who were unlikely to have heard about Jesus. She has now returned to LCM as a Missionary.

“My heart is to see the Church of Christ deeply in love with our Saviour and filled with compassion for those who do not yet know Him. I want everyone to have the opportunity to hear the Good News, and I believe that nurturing Christ-centered church communities is one of the most effective ways to see that happen,” Tabitha explains.

Sister Tabitha serves as a Mission Catalyst in the Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge Team, partnering with local churches to reach and love their Muslim neighbours, particularly Muslim women.

Newham is home to the second-largest Muslim population in London and also has one of the highest rates of poverty in the UK.

Sister Tabitha's vision is to see churches across these boroughs working together to be a light in London, like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14).

A proud Italian and an Intercultural Studies student, Tabitha is passionate about good food from around the world and enjoys collecting recipes from friends of different cultures for her cookbook. She also loves reading and considers it an essential way to relax.
