Nimo

Pan London Team Leader for Muslim Engagement

"God forgave me and transformed me; how can I not devote my life to helping others to find him too!"

Nimo grew up as a child going to church, but it wasn’t until his early 20s that events in his life caused him to realise his need of a Saviour.

“I was empty and lost, but Jesus found me. He forgave me and transformed me; how can I not devote my life to helping others to find him too?!”

Soon after his conversion, his church sent him on a week’s mission with Operation Mobilisation, where he helped a new church plant reach their community by knocking on doors. This experience ingrained a love for evangelism in Nimo, which developed into a desire to reach out to Muslims especially to those from a Turkish background who he would meet in North London. This eventually led to an opportunity to serve alongside a church in Turkey for the best part of 14 years.

In 2016 Nimo heard about the opportunity to work with LCM alongside a church helping them reach out to Turkish speakers. As a result, he and his wife returned to London for the next stage of their adventure with Jesus.

Nimo is now an LCM Team Leader for Muslim engagement across London. Supporting LCM missionaries and a growing number of churches across the city, Nimo serves as a strategic and tactical leader to accelerate LCM’s work to equip and support churches to reach Muslims with the good news of Jesus.

Nimo says, “There are so many amazing opportunities to reach the 1.5 million Muslims in London and LCM is in a great place to envision and equip churches to reach them. Whether it’s envisioning Christians with resources, helping churches connect with Muslims in their community, or supporting church members journeying 1-1 with Muslims through the Bible, our vision is that more Muslims might find hope in Christ.”

London is a mosaic of many peoples and languages, and even within London’s Muslim community there is much diversity - Turkish speakers in the North of London, huge South Asian communities in the East, and Farsi and Arabic speakers in the West - each community has its own set of challenges and opportunities. Nimo says, “It’s always so encouraging seeing the confidence of church members grow and stepping out confidently where before there was fear. If we can see a growing number of churches confidently reaching their Muslim friends and neighbours, we will see God do amazing things in our city.”

In his spare time Nimo loves to watch and play tennis. When he’s not working hard in LCM, you will often find him on a tennis court somewhere burning off the stress of ministry and trying to keep fit!
