Patrick Kangi

Team Leader in Kensington, Chelsea, Westminster & South Brent

"My vision is to see...churches in the area intentionally reach out to those who are yet to hear the gospel"

Patrick grew up regularly attending a Catholic church. However, it wasn’t until the age of 20, that the gospel was clearly presented to him.

“I then realised I was a sinner and that I needed to repent and accept Jesus’ free gift of salvation by faith.”

Soon after, at a church youth event, Patrick felt God’s call to share the gospel with people who hadn’t heard it. This call to mission was confirmed to him through Scripture, especially Matthew 24:14, where he felt God was showing him the direction for his life.

Seven years later, Patrick stepped out in faith and joined Operation Mobilisation, travelling aboard an ocean liner, sharing the gospel across the world. He then went on to complete Bible training at Belfast Bible College, before joining an LCM training programme in 2004.

“People are dying every day who have not heard the gospel message and are going into a Christless eternity – this is what motivates me to share the gospel.”

Patrick serves as Missionary Team Leader for Kensington, Chelsea, Westminster and South Brent – where he specialises in reaching out to seniors and people living on council estates, with the love and good news of Christ. Together with his team, he equips churches to build bridges into these neighbourhoods, sharing the gospel with people who may otherwise never hear it.

Across these areas where Patrick serves live people from all over the world. More than half of the people in Kensington and Chelsea were born outside of England and neighbouring Brent is recorded as one of the most diverse areas in the UK. With this increasing diversity comes more opportunities to reach those from Muslim and East Asian faith backgrounds, and those with no faith at all. There are also pockets of deep poverty across west London. Westminster is home to many who are wealthy, but it is also home to the highest number of rough sleepers in the UK. Brent has one of the highest unemployment rates. This is a reality for many of those Patrick meets as he draws alongside members of the local church to help them reach those in need of the gospel.

"My vision is to see many people come to know Jesus as local churches intentionally reach out to people in the communities with the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ - welcoming and accepting them into their loving church families."

Patrick is married to Raquel, and together they have a son called Joshua, and a cat called Bagel. Patrick loves cycling, watching rugby and watching his son play football.
