Juliana Tillvitz

Mission Associate in Croydon

“I have always had a heart to...bring communities and churches together to introduce Jesus to those who are hopeless and forgotten.”

Brought up in a Catholic family in Brazil, Juliana’s father took her and her siblings to church every Sunday. She always enjoyed reading the family Bible, but she didn’t fully understand the gospel until years later. After Juliana arrived in the UK, she found herself going along to a Christian church to be with her husband who regularly attended. Hearing the gospel week by week, she slowly grew in her understanding of who Jesus is and decided to get baptised in 2021. God has now given her a heart to teach others about Jesus.

“I have always worked as a teacher, and after becoming a Christian I still love teaching, but now my heart wants to teach about Jesus. When I taught in Brazil, I worked in some of the toughest areas, and I saw first-hand the struggles of those who are marginalised. I now know how important Jesus is in transforming lives, especially those who are homeless and on the fringes of society.”

When Juliana’s Pastor told her about LCM, she knew she wanted to come on board and be part of the Mission.

Juliana now works as a Mission Associate in Croydon alongside local churches, seeking to equip them to reach those who are homeless and marginalised.

“Croydon is a challenging area - people are struggling in many ways. Foodbanks have long queues, there are more people sleeping rough, and drug addiction and crime have a huge impact on the community - the need of Jesus can be seen wherever you go.”

“I have always had a heart to help people and didn’t know how, but with LCM I am now in the right place to bring communities and churches together to introduce Jesus to those who are hopeless and forgotten.”

Juliana is naturally athletic and enjoys sport. She also enjoys studying the Bible: “I love studying the Bible, and it can take me hours to read just a few verses, as I like to use other sources to help me go deep into the Word. My lifetime will not be enough to study the Bible!”
