Jayne Kinghorn

Missionary in Barking & Dagenham and Havering

"I am aware of what it's like wanting to know the Lord, but not knowing where or how..."

Jayne supported the work of London City Mission for 20 years as a volunteer before joining as a missionary in 2016.

She worked in a school before becoming a missionary, providing speech and language therapy for students from all walks of life and has always been interested in other religions having been a Rastafarian and then a Jehovah's Witness.

“A Christian who took the time to knock on my front door when I was a JW; explained the gospel to me in 1991 which then led to me becoming a Christian.”

Becoming a missionary was the next step in serving the Lord for Jayne, since sharing the gospel regularly while working at the school and volunteering with various activities run by London City Mission at Christian centres over many years.

“I have always found people fascinating, and enjoy hearing about other peoples' lives and backgrounds. I am aware of what it is like wanting to know the Lord but not knowing where or how to find Jesus. It is my passion to share Jesus with anyone who wants to know about him.”

“We have many people moving into Barking and Dagenham from all walks of life and they need to hear about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus. It is my hope to encourage and partner with churches in Barking and Dagenham to help more Christians get involved in talking about their faith; to walk with them as they begin to experience the great joy there is in getting involved in the Great Commission of Matthew 28:16-20".

Jayne is actively involved at her church where her husband, Neil, is a minister and they also work together to encourage their congregation to get involved in sharing Jesus with their friends and neighbours.

Jayne enjoys time out playing with her two grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
