Denzel Gaisie

Missionary in Lambeth

"My vision is that churches would bear a counter-cultural witness to the love of Christ"

Denzel grew up in South London, coming from a Ghanaian, Christian family. At the age of 13, Denzel placed his trust in Jesus, and subsequently grew in his desire to share the good news that changed his life, and began doing so with friends at school.

After years of theological education, working in a school, and later a Christian homeless charity, Denzel felt called to join the Mission. After much prayer and seeking the Lord, Denzel joined the mission in 2021.

“My gospel ambition is to welcome broken people, just like me, from all nations and cultures into a life of faith, love and hope in Christ, where they will find wholeness and restoration by the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God.”

Denzel is currently working in Lambeth, focusing on the areas of Stockwell and Brixton, Streatham and Clapham Park, seeking to envision and equip churches in order to help them reach their local community with the good news of Jesus.

“Lambeth is filled with so many different diasporas and cultures that are not here by accident, but have been sovereignly placed by God to be in earshot of the gospel!”

Denzel is striking up a partnership with Stockwell Baptist Church, which sits next to Stockwell station in Little Portugal. Here there is a large number of the Portuguese community, and a number of deprived estates.

“My vision is that churches would bear a counter-cultural witness to the love of Christ in word and deed by welcoming, loving and discipling people from their community.”

Denzel and his wife Chloe, and daughter Cana live in Streatham.
