David Kim

Missionary in Croydon

“My vision is to see a spiritual awakening among Far East Asians and international communities"

Once a violent leader of two gangs in South Korea, David’s life changed at 21 when he encountered Jesus through reading the Bible. Joining the mission in February 2019, he serves in Croydon and across London.

“My vision is to see a spiritual awakening among Far East Asians and international communities who often remain unreached by the life-giving message of the gospel.”

In the UK, New Malden has the largest population of North Korean refugees outside of South Korea, which presents a big opportunity to share the gospel. The area is also home to many families who have recently left Hong Kong. However, sharing the gospel within the Asian community in London is filled with challenges, including language barriers and cultural differences.

Having personally navigated these hurdles as an Asian individual, David is deeply familiar with the difficulties they pose. His heart is for the establishment of thriving churches among North Koreans, Hongkongers, and other diaspora communities from the Far East.

David would like to equip local churches to welcome Asian and international people help them adapt and introduce them to the good news of Jesus Christ.

David lives in Worcester Park with his wife, Joy Jung-Hwa, and is blessed with three adult children: Ye-Jean, Sung-Chan, and Young-Chan.
