Courtney O'Shea

Mission Associate in Croydon

“Every young person needs consistency, understanding, a voice to be heard and an opportunity to encounter God that will transform their lives.”

Courtney has worked with young people since he was a teenager himself, volunteering with various local youth services from the age of 16.

It was through a genuine relationship and mentorship with an older Christian that led Courtney to give his life to Jesus as a young person. Years later, his God-given passion for youth work lead him to join London City Mission as a full time youth worker.

“Every young person needs consistency, understanding, a voice to be heard and an opportunity to encounter God that will transform their lives.”

Courtney now works as a Mission Associate in Croydon, reaching out to children, youth and schools in the local area. This often looks like delivering training to churches, helping young people through relevant issues such as relationships, youth violence, social media etc. They also work to encourage young people using creative ways to speak about Jesus to their friends and peers.

Over the years, Courtney becomes more and more convinced of the need to persevere in prayer for young people – for their protection, safety and well-being. “There is a huge opportunity for mature committed Christians to personally engage with the younger generation and share life with them. I want to see churches soften their hearts toward young people, have arms wide open, ears to listen and love them just as Christ loves the Church.”

“I long to see young people come to faith, and to then be able to share their faith with their friends and peer groups as they grow to be a mighty generation that will pass down the gospel for generations to come.”

Courtney lives in London, and enjoys street-skating around his local area. You may even see him do this backwards!
