Abigail grew up in Loughborough and Leicester in a Christian family. Surrounded with amazing stories of God’s faithfulness, she grew up expecting to see her prayers answered. Abigail explains, “When I was 7 years old, I was lonely at school and asked Jesus to be with me, and He was – His presence was as real to me that day as anyone I’ve ever met.”
In her teenage years, Abigail quietly drifted away from her childhood faith. “Outwardly I looked like a "Very Good Christian", but inside I was going my own way. Jesus intervened when I was 19, at a kids camp I was serving at - this led to me dropping out of Uni and doing a year out in youth and schools work - I was sent to Bexley and I never left!”
Despite ups and downs in her walk with Jesus, Abigail has always wanted to share Jesus with others. “I want others to know the love and joy that has found me.” Abigail is excited to take the leap of faith to be working with LCM as she knows it’s where God wants her to be.
Abigail’s heart for mission in London is to show Jesus to all who have a deep-seated need to be loved by someone they can truly rely on. “I believe this love is found in Jesus – and it’s my joy to share it with others.”
Abigail works as a Mission Associate in the Pan-London Schools Team, working with Churches across London to take Jesus into schools, and to link schools with Churches. “Churches have an amazing opportunity to link with families in their community through their local schools – but often don’t know how to go about it. Churches need tools, encouragement and confidence to reach out”, says Abigail.
Abigail’s vision for schools in London is for every pupil to have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus, and for families in London to see their local Church as a place they can go to for support and guidance.
Abigail lives in Bexley with her husband, their teenage children, and their grumpy pet rabbit. Abigail describes herself as a bit of a ‘thespian’! She did drama and theatre studies at school and enjoys a bit of play-acting!
