Highway Vineyard Church Storehouse Volunteer

'Storehouse' is the name Highway Vineyard Church (HVC) gives to the midweek activities at their site in Manor Park.

The activities that take place at Storehouse are as follows:

• Wednesday afternoons. PoEM – a peer support group for parents of children with SEND.
  
• Thursday all day. Subsidized and free food for very local members of the Storehouse Food Club. Between 70 and 85 households are helped each week. The average household contains 3.5 people.
  
• Fridays. All sorts of support including informal English Class; digital skills and inclusion;
  utilities vouchers; benefits; housing; domestic violence referral; vitamin D distribution; Healthy Start; referral to HVC lawyer on immigration issues; CV’s; anything else to help people to flourish by addressing their barriers.

The easiest place to start for most people is to volunteer on a Thursday in the Food Club for a whole day, a morning or an afternoon. The things you might get involved with are as follows:

• put out food on the shelves before members arrive
• set out tables and chairs
• make tea
• chat with members, getting to know them. Say a short prayer with them as appropriate
• help members pick out their food
• work on the front desk
• wash up
• hoover up
• count money
• input simple data
• shadow an existing LCM staffer to share the Gospel or branch out on your own.

No one does all of these in one day! The more often your volunteer, the more chances you will have to circulate round these various elements.
