Council Estates and Neighbourhood Door-Knocking

LCM partners with churches to help them thrive. Our mission is to empower London churches to extend their reach in sharing the gospel. LCM missionaries are dedicated to equipping churches to express God's love through both word and deed, utilizing ministry activities, coaching, and training. We are excited to invite LCM volunteers to join our missionaries and team, providing essential support to our partner churches' ministry activities across London.

Our vision is for Every home on every council estate to be reached by the LCM volunteer team working alongside the local Church.

From door to “hearth” to heart: Volunteers faithfully, regularly and prayerfully knock on doors within the same patch, alongside local church members to sensitively share the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed in order to build genuine relationships, to see many hearts turn to Christ and many people join the local Church family.

What the role involves

To serve alongside church family in performing spiritual “search and rescue”, by going door-to-door to reach out to the same homes at least three times a year.
Returning to visit homes where gospel conversations or gospel-centered friendships are being built by following up to pray, read the Bible and seek to further integrate them into the church community.

Experienced volunteers may be trained and delegated by the LCM Missionary to become Doors session leads, responsible for:

Planning and liaising with the LCM Missionary to determine which estates and doors to cover.
Briefing, supporting and offering on-the-job training to volunteers.
Ensuring notes are taken appropriately in line with GDPR requirements.
Leading prayers for the people encountered during the sessions.

Commitment:

Frequency: Quarterly, monthly, fortnightly, or weekly- depending on availability and the church and LCM lead’s schedule.
Session length: Typically 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Includes a briefing, Q&A, and shared prayer.
- Followed by door-knocking (covering 5- 60 doors depending on conversations).
- Ends with a short debrief and prayer time.

Qualifications and skills required

Prayerful.
Fluent in English.
Compassion for the lost.
Passion to share the gospel, with willingness to grow in introducing it sensitively into conversations and encourage each other in doing so.
Able to work well with the other team members.

Other requirements

Attend home church Sunday services regularly.
Give and receive regular prayer support through small group/prayer partners.
Regular prayer for the Door-knocking team and contacts during personal devotional time.
Familiarity with LCM’s Everyday Evangelism resources, especially the Door-to-Door resources.
