“It felt important. Jesus saves. He sent His Son to die to save us from our sin. For me, it was a work that had to be done.”
Gloria Thomas worships at The Sanctuary, a New Testament Assembly church in Tooting. Fourteen years ago, she felt a stirring: her church was gathering faithfully – but not going out to the local high street to invite people in.
So, Gloria stepped out.
With two others, she began standing outside the underground station, handing out gospel tracts. “We didn’t know what to say,” she recalls. “We hadn’t had any training. We were just pushing them out to people.”
But in time, with the help of training from London City Mission, everything changed.
“I thought you needed to know the Bible from back to front,” she says. “But you really don’t. Training showed me to keep it simple.”
Now, Gloria shares her faith with confidence. “I have no fear… and if people reject you, you just offer to pray for them.”
“If you’re thinking about it – do it,” she says. “It’s worth it. I don’t know where I’d be without my Saviour.”
Gloria’s story is also featured in Season 2, Episode 6 of our Everyday Evangelism Podcast – “How do I keep sharing Jesus when I feel discouraged?” In this episode, we explore how God meets us in our discouragement and equips us to share the gospel – even when it feels hard.
