Homelessness is rising, causing mental health problems and addictions to worsen. In London, more than 150 people sleeping rough will die this year, at an average age of just 44.
If anyone needs your support this Christmas, it’s people who are homeless.
The need might seem overwhelming – but let me tell you about Anderley, who will remind you, God has the power to save anyone.
I remember the first day Anderley arrived at Webber Street, at what he describes as ‘the lowest point in my life.’ For five weeks, he'd been sleeping in a pile of rubbish. This precious young man had lost years of his life to drug addiction, and his situation seemed hopeless.
But God would never give up on people like Anderley. And neither can you or your church.
That’s why this Christmas, the support from your church is so important. Because your love, hope and compassion for someone like Anderley can change everything...
Anderley started coming to Webber Street for hot showers, clean clothes and nutritious breakfasts. We poured love into his life. I helped, listened and prayed. I referred him to LCM’s Corner House, which provides supported overnight housing for six months.
It was like Anderley stepped into the light, found love, acceptance and real care from people who value him. Now, Anderley has a place to live, job interviews on the horizon, and a faith that’s growing!
Anderley says: “If I never came to Webber Street, I don't know where I would have been today. That's the truth.”
Right now, other rough sleepers urgently need the same kindness and care that changed Anderley’s life.
Your generosity won’t just put food in people’s stomachs or a roof over their heads… you will bring the life-changing message of Jesus to people in loving and relevant ways. And this year, your gift will be doubled thanks to the incredible kindness of a match funder.
This Christmas, could you invite people like Anderley into God’s family by making a gift to help provide friendship, support and a chance to hear the good news of Jesus?
