Evangelism that Empowers: Providing Care Without Creating Dependency

We all want to help, but what does real help look like? Is it just meeting a need, or could it be something deeper?

This Practical Evangelism Training Day is an opportunity to reflect on how we support others as followers of Jesus. It’s about learning to support people in ways that restore dignity, build trust, and bring lasting hope, not just short-term fixes.

So often, helping looks like giving a meal, some money, or a bit of advice. Those things matter, but what if true help goes beyond that? What if it’s about walking with someone, seeing their strengths, not just their struggles and empowering them to move forward?

During the day, we’ll explore what it means to care for people without creating dependency. We’ll explore how to view others as God sees them: as capable, valued, and made in His image. You’ll hear from experienced missionaries, get practical ideas you can take back to your church, and be equipped to share the gospel through relationships marked by grace, compassion, and truth.

Come ready to be challenged, encouraged, and equipped for ministry that helps people not just survive, but flourish.

Sign up today and join us for a day that will inspire fresh vision for how we serve and share Jesus in everyday life.

Luke Carson

Team Leader for Prisons & Resettlement

"I have always had a heart for those on the edge of society and I believe those in prison are some of the most forgotten about in our communities. God wants us to reach out to those who are in prison with the gospel, to show them patient love and to disciple them through the ups and downs of life.

What excites me most about this ministry is seeing men meet Jesus and go on to share their faith with other prisoners or those who have a similar story."

Sally Palmer

Missionary at Webber Street Homeless Day Centre

"There is nothing more exciting than being able to share the gospel with someone and to see how it directly speaks into their individual circumstances.

My desire is to see London churches full of all sorts of people, including both rich and poor, gathered round the unifying gospel of a risen Christ. I want to see people on the margins of society loved and looked after by churches, but also invited into the truth and eternal treasures of knowing and living for Jesus."
