Five years ago, missionary Olly met a young medical student, Anna*, while he was doing street evangelism at a Hounslow book table. He walked with her along the high street and told Anna about Jesus.
Fast forward to 2020. Anna is a 31-year-old trainee doctor, serving on the frontline in the worst global pandemic of our generation – and she’s searching for hope. In March, Anna joined a group of around 40 people who tuned into Olly’s daily online Bible studies and prayer meetings.
BRINGING THE BIBLE ONTO THE WARDS
“Anna just found me through Facebook and joined the lockdown Bible studies,” said Olly. “After just a week said told me, ‘I don’t want to live for the world anymore,’ and she’s so full-on for the Lord!”
Anna even joined Bible studies from her hospital ward, so other doctors and nurses could listen too. One doctor subsequently joined the group himself and ordered a Bible from the internet. Olly added, “I’ve loved seeing the Holy Spirit work in Anna’s life. We know God can use difficult times, and soon I hope to get Anna rooted in a church.”
