‘Be strong and courageous, ... for the Lord ... will never leave you or forsake you.’

As the people of God were about to enter the land, faced with what looked like great peril, they were reminded to take courage, for the Lord was with them. Before the disciples were sent on their commission, Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me... And I shall be with you’.

The same Lord is with us now. By his Spirit we can face the impact of coronavirus unafraid.

As the number of people who catch the virus is set to rise, it’s the marginalised, those with underlying health issues, older people and those who are homeless or in prison who will feel the effects the most.

Working with churches to share the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ with the least reached and marginalised in London remains London City Mission’s priority. Romans 13:1 guides us to submit to those in authority, which we believe is an important biblical principle, so we are following government requests as we consider how we can continue to reach out with the hope of the gospel.

We greatly value your passion for the gospel and for the least reached, and we pray that during a time of potential pain for so many, God’s grace will become apparent. There could thousands of people in London fatally impacted by coronavirus who don’t have a Christian friend to share Jesus with them. Our missionaries are already caring for the sick, and we are adapting our ministry in the face of this crisis to continue sharing the gospel whilst caring for those amongst us who are particularly vulnerable. Please stand with us as we share the light of the gospel in London.

Lord have mercy on London, and strengthen us to continue to reach out with words of comfort, hope and good news, because London needs Jesus.

Be strong and courageous, for the Lord our God is with you!

Points for prayer
Above all, we trust in our God who is in control of all things.

Please pray:
•    for the church to stand as a beacon of light, and for our response as Christians to be an opportunity to point people towards Jesus Christ, Lord over our lives.
•    for our government and medical researchers, who are faced with making decisions that will impact our nation.
•    for hospital staff on the front line of providing medical care.
•    for those who are ill or isolated, that they would turn to Christ, heal quickly and find peace in the Lord.

Thank you so much for your passion for mission and your faithful support of London City Mission in so many ways. We pray God’s blessing on you, your church and your communities at this time.

Please stand with us to shine the light of the gospel in London by donating a special gift today.
