Two New Books from LCM

At London City Mission we are blessed with an array of gifted staff and Gospel partners. Ahead of Christmas, there has been much excitement in the office about two new books, one that is a perfect pocket-sized stocking filler, and another making a perfect gift for any foodie friends or family.

5 Things to Pray for Your City

Helen Thorne, our Director of Training and Mentoring has written, alongside one of our church partners, Pete Nicholas from Inspire Church (and previously co-author of Virtually Human from IVP) a brilliant little book, 5 Things to Pray for Your City. Joining other volumes in this helpful series of guides to prayer, our prayer is that this book will be used by the Holy Spirit as God draws believers deep into His word, refining them and directing them in prayer, and using them to change cities. Each chapter takes a passage of Scirpture and suggests 5 things to pray for. James 5:16 reminds us that the prayers of Christians are powerful and effective!

Simply Eat

Continuing and giving a (beautiful -this book would look good on any coffee table!) shape to partnership in the Gospel is Simply Eat, which is a new coffee-table hardback book produced together with the Evangelical Alliance’s South Asian Forum, Interserve, The Diocese of Birmingham, Great Commission, and All Nations. Simply Eat, which Instant Apostle have beautifully built for us, offers up a range of stories about how eating together is vital to the foundation and sharing of our faith. Dovetailing powerful personal stories and classic family recipes – including the Bake Off’s Martha Collinson – Simply Eat is a perfect gift for Christmas, and a useful aid to evangelism year round.

How can I get my copy?

You can order 5 Things to Pray for Your City  from the Good Book Company, and Simply Eat from Instant Apostle. They are available elsewhere online, and also at your local Christian bookshop. We’d love to know what you think of these books!
