A city of contrasts
A city of contrasts

London needs many things: people to talk to each other on the Tube, pedestrian overtaking lanes on Oxford Street… These things will forever be debated. But one thing you can’t argue with is that London needs prayer. Lots of it.

Cultures collide

We live in one of the most diverse cities in the world, where cultures collide and where contrasts are made stark by proximity. Well-off families live streets away from the toughest housing estates. Wealthy city workers share tubes and buses with single parents struggling to make ends meet. Mums from all over the world mingle at the school gates. A lonely, elderly man stands at a bus stop with a group of students off clubbing. This city, these people, need prayer.

Journey with us and pray for London

That’s why we at London City Mission have put together this London prayer guide for Lent. We invite you to come on a journey with us, walk the streets we walk, meet the people we meet, and see the challenges they face. We invite you to read, reflect, pray and take action. The more people like you who are praying for London, the better. We long to see God at work here. Will you join us in prayer during Lent?

Each week follows a theme, for example, the elderly, addiction or global London. The guide provides context to the theme, a Bible verse for reflection and a way to respond practically to the issues being praying for.
