Cities: the church's biggest challenge - and biggest opportunity. It's no accident that the world's largest city mission is in the world's most influential city. But instead of sending us to the city bankers, politicians and culture makers, God has called us to go to the toughest parts of our wonderful capital.
Our goal is to share the good news of Jesus and the love of God with London's least reached - those living in poverty, those marginalised by their choices, situations or health issues, those from other cultural groups alienated from the church.
We show this love and good news in all sorts of practical ways through our work with churches, community centres, cafes, schools, prisons, transitional housing and homeless ministries.
But sharing the gospel is at the heart of all we do, because London needs Jesus.
where we work
Community Centre - staff get to know people in the local streets and housing estates, meeting them in their homes, and hosting activities in the centres such as mother-and-toddler groups, youth clubs, community meals and food banks.
Homeless Centre - staff welcome people who are homeless with cooked breakfasts, showers, medical support, employment advice, prayer, Bible talks and friendship.
Cafe ministry - staff serve the local community with good food in friendly surroundings, provide classes, clubs and activities to engage a variety of ages and stages, and offer prayer and conversation to develop relationships in the community and share Jesus with those who don't know him.
Prison Chaplain - offer inmates group Bible studies, courses and services, as well as one-to-one visits with support and prayer.
Schools Worker - staff run workshops and lunch clubs on the Bible for school children, and offer resources to schools, helping to give teachers and children a better understanding of Jesus and the Christian faith.
Church-based Missionary - missionaries are based in a local church; they visit people in the local area and help others in the church to reach out to their community.
Community Missionary - missionaries provide support to and share the gospel with individuals from different least-reached people groups.
Transitional Housing - staff work closely with rough sleepers identified through the Mission's homeless centre and other agencies to practically and pastorally enable them to live more stable, healthy lives.
Street Population Missionary - staff offer friendship, practical support and pastoral care to people who are on the margins of society, often homeless and/or struggling with addiction, to help them recognise their true value and God's love for them.
Note that due to the sensitive nature of some of our ministries we have not mentioned them here. We also partner in various ways with a range of churches and agencies across London which are also not represented on this map.
