Visiting Your Church or Organisation
Every year, the London City Mission visits interested Churches all over the UK. We would be delighted to send a speaker to your Church to inspire and encourage you about our work of evangelism in London.
If you are based in the London area we would be pleased to come at any convenient time.
Outside of the London/South East area (that are not a convenient "out and back in a day" trip), we visit particular areas at certain times, and would be delighted to include you in our plans.
While, of course, our main desire is to inform and encourage you with what God is doing through us, we are also happy to share God’s word, if requested. We can provide a Missionary speaker for your Sunday or midweek meetings, ladies’ meetings, youth groups, or any other opportunity that you may have. We are also able to accommodate requests for a Missionary involved in a particular aspect of our work, if available.

As Churches have many different requirements, we would be happy to talk to you about the various options before you make a decision. In the first instance, or to book a speaker, please call us at LCM Headquarters on 0207 407 7585 or email deputation@lcm.org.uk.
Whilst we do not have 'set charges' for providing Missionary speakers, we would appreciate "out of pocket" expenses, such as travel costs, covered by the Church, and an offering towards the work of the Mission, given to the speaker at or sent to us following the meeting.
We may also ask the Church to arrange meals and overnight accommodation, should it be required, and assist with or advise on transport from a nearby convenient station to the venue. Please contact us if you would like to discuss any aspects of this.
As our work is funded centrally by voluntary donations from churches and individuals around the country, all cheques should be made payable to London City Mission.

Deputation Resources
From time to time, we are asked by Churches to supply material for church newsletters etc. If you use any of the resourc, we would appreciate a copy of that week's newsletter sent to us for our records.
DVD presentations
We have several promotional DVD presentations available ranging from 5 to 15 minutes in length, which may also serve as a useful introduction or refresher to the work of the Mission, or the basis for a prayer meeting in conjunction with other materials, which we will send you on request by post.
Items for prayer
If you would like to have some up to date items for prayer, the Prayer Update Line is updated every Wednesday with the latest news. This is available in text and audio form, and the last three weeks items can also be found there.

The London City Mission was founded on May 16th 1835. Since this date, the Mission has maintained its original purpose – to “go to the people of London” with the good news of Jesus Christ, and to “do them good by every means in your power”.
The London City Mission exists to share with the people of London, patiently, sensitively and individually, the transforming love of God in Jesus Christ and to enable them to join the church. In pursuit of this purpose Mission staff, paid and volunteers, go to the people of London, especially those in social, economic or personal need:
- where they live – through community ministries based on local churches or the Mission’s own centres, or through school work;
- where they work – through chaplaincy ministries, especially among the transport and emergency services;
- where they have settled – through specialised ministries to immigrants and ethnic minorities;
- where they are marginalised – through ministries to prisons, homeless people and street people;
- where they are being cared for – through hospital visiting and pastoral work in care homes for the elderly.
You can find out much more about the Mission’s work from its website at www.lcm.org.uk or from its magazine “Changing London”.
In the preface to a history of the Mission published in 2003, Rev Dr Timothy Keller, a Senior Pastor in the Presbyterian Church in New York wrote: “The LCM faces exciting but daunting new challenges in the 21st century. But despite the inevitable changes that will come, as it holds on to its core value of urban neighbour evangelism, it will continue to play a major, effective, strategic role in the work of the kingdom for years to come. London is one of the three or four most influential urban centres in the world today. I am profoundly grateful that the London City Mission continues to be an anchor for gospel witness in that great city.”
The London City Mission employs more than 150 people and depends almost entirely on voluntary contributions from individuals and churches to finance these ministries. Please pray for the ongoing and critical work of the Mission and consider making a donation to the continuation and development of that work.
